How do you explain cabin fever? I suppose, its lack of daylight and exercise. When those of us locals used to be able to get on Fort Greely without a special pass, the swim pool was a perfect remedy. There's something about the light, the swim and the water that makes you smile. Then we'd head to the sauna and breath in that moist hot air.
Some of us do artwork, quilt, do photography, hike, fish, write and do whatever it takes to make it through each dark winter season. You say the winters don't bother you? Hmmmm, let me ask your partner, friends or co-workers. Hawaii always sounds so good in January, doesn't it?
It was below -20 oF yesterday and they are calling for a snowfall today. Heading to Fairbanks to attend my first Anchorage Chamber of Commerce luncheon - that's right, in Fairbanks. How cool is that? I loved it when the Alaska Federation of Natives Conference rotated back and forth between Fairbanks and Anchorage, we need to continue to offer both major cities these prime events. I don't think we'll see it in 2009 in Fairbanks though, disappointing for me.
