Our time to "store" and put away = tutquq

It's that time of year, I know it because of the fireweed that has headed out, the leaves fluttering by and the Sullivan Roadhouse Soup Luncheon and Harvest. The Sullivan Roadhouse stands as a monument it Alaskans and their fortitude and generosity. I attended the 4th Sullivan Roadhouse luncheon and greeted many people that I may or may not see throughout the winter months which are fast approaching. There was delicious varieties of homemade soups, breads, desserts (homemade ice cream), brownies and drinks. It was chilly outdoors but warm in the roadhouse. Thank you to all who attended and donated.

The Old Farm House Gets Renewed

The Peck Farmhouse in Idaho is getting a face lift via Duane and Bego Peck. Isn't it coming along fabulously? The dock is an added venture which leads to great family fun. Jacques is the family dog who tolerated the 35-40 inhabitants over the last week with great patience. I know he'll sleep for a week. We'd find him resting in a far away place when things got alittle loud. Such a smart species!

"Misty" and Frosty this a.m. = "minik" in Inupiaq

Misty and frosty this a.m.

I will have to check Buck's garden, hope not all is lost.

The leaf lettuce is amazing and the head is nearly ready.

The dogs have been keeping us up barking, we locked them in but that wasn't 100% successful - they may have to be locked in at nights again. I don't know what they are barking at, moose, fox, bear, etc. but Scott said that they are making things up to bark at and barking at their own shadow. At night, well probably not.

Here's a collage of pet photos that are altered by Picasa 3.

Had wonderful NP photographers out and they encouraged me to continue with photography. The photography division of the local fairs is growing probably because of the great digital cameras. I have some great "shots" I'd like to print out and then use acrylic paint to "enhance." Know there is name for it but?

Enjoy the photos, my pets make me smile....along with my grandchildren.

This is the Way I See It

Its smokey outside, the iris have quit blooming and have gone to seed, soon the fireweed. 1.5 million acres are burning in Alaska and mainly in the interior-note the picture of the farm with smoke in the background. Glass artwork completed depicting a mountain scene in Montana. Garden hanging on but for how long? We already had a hard frost.

The Herd at Our Place

A pretty busy week, picking rhubarb and blueberries-making jam and sauce to take to my brothers in Idaho (I won't forget you either Les), packaging bison burger up for our winter storage, smoking fish and all the time, taking care of the bison and elk.

Countdown to the Peck Family Reunion in Declo, Idaho.
Thanks Lee Ann for the photos you took the other day of the bison in the field.

Parade In a Small Town 2009 - A Stitch in Time

30 Year Anniversary of the Deltana Fair
Another great year for the fair. We miss Judy but she's done well with support from many long lived Alaskan-Delta residents. Progress was made with a chip-n-seal walkway that extended in a loop from the gate to the barn and looped around the vendors' booths. Mudbogs, tractor pulls, exhibits, quilts, needlework, food, music, beer hall and more were found...last day today. See you there or be SQUARE! Posted by Picasa
